トーテミズムとは
人が自然や自然現象と結ばれること。 語源であるトーテムはネイティブ・アメリカンの言葉で、自然物をモチーフにつくられたその象徴である。
アメリカ旅と無人島生活の中で、自然と精神が一体となる感覚に陥ったことがある。その感覚は元々人間に備わっているものであるが、現代人は徐々に失いつつある。一方でネイティブ・アメリカンは古来よりトーテムなどを通して日常的に自然との一体化（トーテミズム）を行ってきた。それにならい、そのトーテムとなる建築をつくることができないだろうか。本設計では自然の化身となって旅人を優しく包み込んだり、語りかけてくるような建築を作ることで現代人や機能主義の建築が失いかけている人々の第六感に働きかけ、自然と更には超自然ともつながる「トーテミズム・アーキテクチャー」を提案する。
What is totemism?
To connect people with nature and natural phenomena.
Native Americans have been communicating with the supernatural on a daily basis (totemism) through totems since ancient times. Following that, this design proposes a “totemism architecture” that works on people’s sixth sense by creating an architecture that is an incarnation of nature and connects with the supernatural.
