This graduation project, set in Lake Nishi, an inland lake of Lake Biwa, aims to revitalize the region with a focus on water purification and reed industry regeneration. Paying attention to the past lives of the people and the now-reclaimed Lake Nakano, which once nurtured a rich ecosystem and supported people's lives, we will create a new waterside environment. By creating reed colonies together, we aim to purify the water, restore the ecosystem, and expect the waterside to return as a place of relaxation for people. In addition, in order to revitalize the declining reed industry, a reed processing plant with an atelier will be built on the waterfront, and new reed products will be developed and sold in collaboration with invited artists, along with traditional reed products. In order to promote interaction between people through the waterside and reeds, a complex facility will be designed with organically arranged water quality research facilities, reed processing plants, and ateliers, providing a place where local residents and tourists can stop by and interact. Through this, we aim to regenerate the circulation of water, reeds, people, and culture, and contribute to the realization of a sustainable life in the inland lake.
