Sakurajima erupts more than 1700 times a year. Residents dislike volcanic ash from eruptions and treat it as troublesome. As a result, awareness of volcanic ash diminishes, and many casualties may occur in the event of a huge eruption. Therefore, by making it possible to use the facilities that are used on a daily basis as evacuation shelters, the evacuation of residents will be smoother. We must continue to coexist with volcanic ash, and we will use and combine facilities for evacuation from volcanic ash as a place for daily life or as an evacuation facilities in case of emergency. By doing so, we aim to create an architecture that expands the possibilities of living space.
