I feel uncomfortable with "just one wall called a seawall." This wall has completely cut off the views to the horizon that once existed, and the continuity between the beach and land. Along with this "physical disconnection," what is worrisome is the "psychological forgetfulness" that the wall's presence brings about. Overconfidence that "we are safe because the wall is there" weakens the awe of nature that humans should inherently feel, and could lead to delays in evacuation behavior and a decline in disaster prevention awareness in the future. This plan maintains the civil engineering defensive function of the seawall, while reconstructing the lost relationships between sea and land, and between sea and people. Rather than simply being a wall that separates, we propose architecture that supports coexistence with the sea.
